The farm Øver-Bjerkem (Upper Bjerkem)

The farm Øver-Bjerkem is situated on the brow of a moraine in Henning.

Since 1974, the farm has been run by Berit and Jakob Bjerkem. Torunn and Johan Einar Bjerkem are the younger generation on the farm.

On the farm you also find the two companies Nord-Trøndelag Folkedraktsaum and Bjerkem Natur og Kultur.

Today, the namefarm Bjerkem is split into three farms. Two of the farms -Øver-Bjerkem and Ner-Bjerkem ( Upper Bjerkem and Lower Bjerkem) - have been in the family for about 400 years. On the third farm -Solheim- Kari Heistad has a riding camp.

We want to live together with the nature, and not "off" the nature.

The old road artery from time immemorial still runs through the centre of the farm yard, passing 2 or 3 mounds - one of them just at the foot of the barn bridge. This proves organic agriculture for between 1000 or 2000 years with two breaks only. They were the Black Death, which laid the farm waste from 1349 to 1520, and the years from ca 1930, when chemical fertilizer was introduced, till 1997, when the farm returned to ecological farming.

Today the farm is being jointly tilled with Einar Morten Ressem, farming Flatås at Såsegga.
